The faucet in my kitchen makes a loud noisy when the water is on. It sounds like a whistle or whining noise. It is louder at times than other. I have tried hitting it and adjusting the water flow. It does make more noise the faster the water flows. What can I do to fix this?

The water heater in question was installed properly and has been in use for about two years. It makes a clanking noise when the water is turned on and when the commodes are flushed. This happens anywhere in the house. What could be the problem?
