I lost about 50 shingles from my roof. My deductible is over $4000 and I just can afford to have the work done yet. I am afraid my roof is leaking and is going to cause serious damage. How long can I wait to replace my roof?

That is a hard question to answer.  There is really no way to give you an accurate answer without inspecting your roof.  But I can tell you if all you lost was shingle tabs, no large sections or areas where you have felt or tarpaper showing, you may not have any leaks for a good while.

The best thing to do is to monitor it for leaks.  Get in the attic with a good strong flashing light during and after a good rain and look for water or wet spots in areas where shingles are missing.  Also, look below the areas as water runs down and sometimes it does not show up at the place of leaking.  You are not alone in your situation.  That is why you see so many tarps still on houses around town.
